Joining the Revolution
Alright, so even an old dog can learn a few new tricks... as long as they're simple ones that is.
Kathy and I finally got frustrated with our 5 year old cell phones, so we upgraded. I can't even tell you what model we got, but they're fancy enough to take pictures and video, play songs all that sort of thing. No big deal really... they're not top of the line or anything, but every toy needs to be played with.
So the other day I was writing an entry for The MOPO Report, the blog that carries news strictly about our performance troupe, and wanted to add a photo... so I got out the phone, took a pic, emailed it to myself from the phone, uploaded it to the blog, and viola... instant visual aid. Well, almost instant... the process took me ten minutes or so I guess... but fairly quickly anyway. Ah the wonders of modern technology! The big problem is, however, that because our phone numbers are Omaha area, down here in Manhattan we're on the extended network... meaning that no pix can be sent from the phone to anywhere... unless I travel far enough to get back into the full coverage area, which is a bit of a downer.
I also took some video, more for test purposes than any other. I'll be uploading those here in a day or two just to see what they look like on YouTube or some such simular server. From the little tests I've run, it looks like the product will be very small and very pixelated, so it may turn out that the "video" option is a rather extraneous one. But hey... at least now when my wife calls I get to listen to the theme from The Muppet Show!
